Bill R. Byrd, age 63, of Kennett Square, died Monday November 7, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Tina DeDominic Byrd, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.
Born in Crosby Texas, he was a son of the late Nolas and Dolly Jo Thannish Byrd.
Bill received a full golf scholarship to Texas Tech, graduating in June 1969 and continued to play and admire the sport of golf throughout his life.
He served our country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Bill had an expansive career in New York City's Garment Center, working with women's apparel by merchandising and manufacturing for major deparatment stores and chains. He was in the process of developing a new line for some of those stores.
Bill discovered his favorite hobby in the last year of his life after the birth of his grandchild, Gianna. From morning to night he helped to care for and entertain her by singing, dancing and laughing together.
Survivors include in addition to his wife, one son, Christopher Barlow Byrd of Phoenix AZ; two daughters, Lindsey Byrd and Jenna Byrd both of Kennett Square; and two grandchildren, Barlow Byrd and Gianna Byrd.
You are invited to visit with Bill's family from 9:30-11AM Monday November 14, 2011 at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church 8910 Gap Newport Pike Avondale, PA 19311. A memorial mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM. Interment will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association 1617 JFK Boulevard, Suite 700 Philadelphia, PA 19103. Arrangements are being handled by the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc.
