Charles L. Raday, age 91, of Kennett Square, died Sunday October 2, 2011 at the home of his daughter and son in law. He was the husband of Margaret Ehlich Raday, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, PA he was a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Albrecht Raday.
Charles was a 1st Sergeant in the Army during WWII. He served in the 103rd Observation Squadron and the 40th Photographic Reconnaissance group in China, Burma, and India. He was originally a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and mustered into Federal Service in February 1941 until his discharge in 1945.
He was a member and Commander of the American Legion Post 294 in Browns Mills New Jersey.
Survivors include in addition to his wife, one daughter; Carol A. Haaf and her husband William C. of Kennett Square, three grandchildren; Deborah H. Tandarich, William C. Haaf (wife Deborah) and Joel D. Haaf (wife Ya Yung Cheng), three great grandchildren; Lauren C. Tandarich, Megan E. Tandarich, and Anjali Haaf. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.
You are invited to visit with Charles's family from 8:30 – 10:30 AM Friday October 7, 2011 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116) 250 W. State St. Kennett Square, PA 19348. His funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
