Dave was a great coach and a great man as you are all aware. I will never forget that smile on his face. He was so full of energy and life and it really was contagious when he was around. He inspired our soccer team with his "turbos what time is it?" just before the game and I can still hear him saying it. I would see him years later and in talking with him, he was just so happy

Dave was a great coach and a great man as you are all aware. I will never forget that smile on his face. He was so full of energy and life and it really was contagious when he was around. He inspired our soccer team with his "turbos what time is it?" just before the game and I can still hear him saying it. I would see him years later and in talking with him, he was just so happy and engaged still and it was like no time had passed. He was the kind of guy who just made you feel good when you talked to him. I am grateful to have known him and I am very sorry for your loss.

I am glad that I got to meet David. He came to me with the hope that we could work together to build his dream building on a part of my property in Willowdale. He was so enthusiastic about seeing it through.

Sean had previously been at a company called Chemical Chromatography Systems (or something like that), and David had been involved in designing one or more of their products, with results that pleased them. At that time David was interested in finding freelance industrial design work, teamed as “Bange/White” with a partner named Greg Bange. At Aurora we were looking for help in designing an addition to our fusion splicer product line which we hoped would catch attention as much by sexy and ergonomic new user interfaces as by any intrinsically new technology.

The funny thing was, one of the partners, I think it was Greg Bange, was still employed full time at DuPont, so they could not come see us during regular working hours. My partner and I were flexible about our own working hours, so we adopted a practice of meeting with David and Greg at our offices beginning around 6:00 pm, or whenever they could get to us from the Wilmington area. This happened several times during the design project, whenever we had new work or ideas or results to go over, we worked together in the evening from 6:00 until . . . whenever. We were like brownies, working and changing things over night, out of everybody else’s sight.

Over a period of several months David and Greg developed a fine packaging design for our new splicer, fully detailed to accept interior mechanisms and electronics we would provide. Then they commissioned the prototypes. Finally the time came for them to bring in the new parts and work with our engineering people to assemble everything, for the first time during daylight hours. Our employees were startled to have these strangers just show up one day, out of the blue, with a new splicer package practically fully-formed, as if by magic. David’s gregarious warm personality quickly made him everybody’s friend, and working with our technicians before too long they had the new splicer assembled and working.

The new splicer, called the Fusion 2000, won a 1995 Technology Award from Fiber Optic Products Magazine for its sexy design.

Linda - was shocked to hear of Dave's unexpected passing. Hope the love of your family and close friends will help you handle the sadness and loneliness you are feeling. Trust me, time WILL lessen the pain and the memories will, with time, bring a smile to your face. Thinking of you all at this terrible time. -Pat

What a shock! David was a very important part of my life. He and I were the unbeatable team of White and Moses -- Racquet Ball Doubles Champions (of the over 50 set). When David saw our victory picture he took one look at himself and me at 6'4" and remarked, "It looks like I'm standing in a hole!"

Then there were the Eagles games he hosted. We gourged ourselves on free hot sandwiches and cookies, froze to death either at

And what about those polo matches?!? Sitting by the sidelines drinking wine, eating cheese and watching the events -- a fabulous experience I will never forget.

My only hope is that I can be as good a friend to others as David was to me.

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

My sincere heartfelt condolences to the White family in this time of grief. David was a very kind hearted, helpful, good spirited man. I remember the times shared with David and Ian at Boy Scout Troop 10 and spontaneous bicycling trips to Wilmington.

David had a good sense of what mattered in life. In 1994, when their house was destroyed by the tornado that roared thru their neighborhood, I don't recall him ever saying "why me?", but rather giving thanks that in spite of the dwelling loss, everyone in his family escaped unharmed.
