Isaiah "Junior" Russell Baker, Jr. age 83, of Avondale, Pennsylvania departed this life on Friday November 25, 2011 at the Crozer Chester Medical Center surrounded by family. He was the husband of Elizabeth McKim Baker, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Avondale on August 20, 1928, he was the eldest son of the late Isaiah Russell Baker, Sr. and the late Lydia Katherine (Smith) Baker.
Isaiah attended Avon Grove School District. Along with his siblings, he worked in his father's mushroom business, did construction work and built his own home. His favorite job was working for Lawrence Derry as a stone mason, building the bridges and stone walls at Winterthur Museum and Gardens. He was also a truck driver, and retired from Bethlehem Steel in Coatesville, PA. He was a member of the L.E.W.O.K.A. Sportsmen's Club, and loved fishing, hunting, gardening and listening to all types of music.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joyce Lynn Miller (Vernon), and Kathy Mae Baker; two grandchildren, Michael Allen Miller (Laura) and Kaelynn Gray Woodie; one great grandchild Mason Thomas Miller all of Wilmington; three sisters, Anna Mae Anderson (William) of Wilmington, Frances M. Reid (Alfred) of Avondale, and Evelyn Baker Dandy (J. Alphonso) of Savannah, Georgia; three brothers, Robert Edward (Laura deceased) of Coatesville, Richard Alexander of Newark, and Donald Lee (Margie) of West Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother James and a sister June Elizabeth Baker Minor (Earl).
You are invited to visit with Isaiah's family from 9-11AM Friday December 2, 2011 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-444-4116) 250 W. State St. Kennett Square PA 19348. His funeral service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be held privately.
