Lt. Col. J. Thomas Mills, age 78, of Kennett Square PA, died Sunday November 20, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Sandra Mills, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Toledo OH, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Mills.
Tom received a BS from Ohio Wesleyan and a MBA from the Wharton School of Business of the Univ of Penn. He served in the US Air force, the Air Force Reserves, and the DE Air National Guard, retiring in 1979 after 22 years of service.
Tom worked for DuPont Company as the business strategy manager for nylon retiring after 33 years of service.
Tom worked tirelessly in Kennett Township in various capacities. He enjoyed the game of golf, and was especially proud to lead the Episcopal Church of the Advent Golf league. A long time member of Advent, he was also a past vestry member. Tom also enjoyed bridge, tennis, travel, gardening and the Kennett Symphony. Above all else, Tom cherished his family, especially observing the development of his wonderful grandchildren.
Survivors include in addition to his devoted wife, his daughter Kim and her husband Bill, his son Brad; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler, Cooper, Matthew, Maura and Ryan, a grand-daughter-in-law Kristen and his brother David.
You are invited to visit with Tom's family from 9:30 -11AM Monday November 28, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent 401 N Union St, Kennett Square, PA 19348. His memorial service will follow at 11AM. A reception will follow in the church social hall.
