Kathryn M. Orbon, age 81 died Saturday November 5, 2011 at Harrison Senior Living in Christiana PA. Born in Plymouth, PA, she was a daughter of the late James Mahon and Mary Mazur Mahon. She graduated valedictorian of Harter High School class of 1947. She attended nursing school at Wyoming Valley Hospital. Kathryn was a registered Nurse working for schools, family doctors, and independently during her career.
Kathryn devoted herself to family. Her children and grandchildren were a primary focus throughout her life. She took an active role in the education of her children by serving on the PTO of the various schools they attended. She was a den leader for Boy Scouts and an assistant Girl Scout leader. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and The League of Women Voters for many years. She was passionate about politics and enjoyed her bridge club and played golf and tennis.
Survivors include three sons, Jacob J. Orbon Jr. and his wife Jacqueline of Morgan Hill, California, Michael Orbon of Cary, North Carolina and John Orbon and his wife Maureen Bisette of Berkeley, California; two daughters, Jan Orbon of Wilmington, DE, and Karen Lane of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, James Mahon of Plymouth PA, and John Mahon of North Carolina; twelve grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
You are invited to visit with Kathryn's family from 10-11AM Friday November 11, 2011 at the Chandler Funeral Home of Hockessin 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Her funeral service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association 135 Parkinson Avenue Staten Island, NY 10305.
