Surrounded by family and friends, and wished onward with an outpouring of love, Linda-Rose Stevenson Dennis ended her battle with ovarian cancer on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Raised in Lexington, Kentucky and Venice, Florida, Linda was the eldest daughter of Dr. Richard V. and Daisy Riccardi Stevenson. Her parents, especially her mother, impressed upon her the importance of service, which became a central focus in her life. She was a founding member of the Central Florida Women's Service League, President of the Oviedo Women's Club, and State President of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. Linda was a proud Clubwoman! Apart from working tirelessly for philanthropic causes such as Heifer International, Canine Companions for Independence, and Operation Smile, Linda was focused on her favorite organization, and the one that took up the most of her time – her family. With her husband, Mike, whom she met at Emory University and married in 1969, and following obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina, she raised to daughters, Meghan and Jenny. From dance classes to archaeological digs, Linda took an interest in every aspect of her daughters lives, and became "Mom" not just to them but to their husbands, Jason and Jack, as well. The family invites those who did love and those who will continue to love Linda to join them for a celebration of life to be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 3:30 PM at the Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5000 County Rd. 46A, Sanford, FL 32771. Together, we will celebrate Linda and share her message – that life is about hope, not just our own but that hope which we can and should bring to others. At Linda's wish, those who wish to contribute to her legacy are encouraged to support Heifer International, and spread hope throughout the world.
